Cast Glass Yellowhead (Mōhua) — Wall Sculpture by Luke Jacomb Studio

The Mohua, with its bright canary-yellow head and soft forest song, is one of Aotearoa’s most distinctive native birds. Found only in the forests of Te Waipounamu (the South Island), it lives in small, isolated populations and is currently classified as At Risk – Declining. Its cultural significance is reflected in its appearance on New Zealand’s $100 note, symbolising both its beauty and its vulnerability.

This cast-glass Mohua captures the bird’s delicate form and vibrant colouring, offering a striking tribute to a treasured native species. Displayed individually or within a larger wall composition, it brings warmth, character and a touch of South Island forest life into any home.
