Blue Tide Vase — Peter Black | Rivelin Pottery
Dimensions (approx) 15.5cm H, Base 8cm, Rim diameter 7cm
Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Blue Tide Vase draws inspiration from the layered colours and textures of the coast, with a beautifully understated palette of warm cream, deep charcoal and ocean blue.
The softly rounded, wheel-thrown form provides a canvas for layers of glaze that meet and flow organically around the vessel. A band of blue emerges between the pale upper glaze and dark base, creating an irregular horizon reminiscent of water meeting sand and rock. Subtle blush and mineral tones around the rim add another layer of depth and character.
Beautiful with a simple arrangement of flowers or foliage, Blue Tide Vase has a quiet sculptural quality that allows it to stand confidently as an object in its own right.
The interplay of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each vase develops its own variations in colour, texture and glaze movement, making every piece an individual work of functional art.
Please note: Every Peter Black ceramic vase is individually wheel-thrown and kiln-fired. Variations in glaze, colour, texture and surface pattern are a natural part of the ceramic process, making each piece beautifully unique. The vase you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, reflecting the individuality and craftsmanship of handmade pottery.
