Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Black Sand showcases a striking metallic glaze inspired by the rich tones of weathered metals and flowing mineral landscapes. Layers of bronze, charcoal, gunmetal and iridescent blue-grey cascade across the surface, creating remarkable depth and movement that shifts beautifully as it catches the light.
Each mug is individually wheel-thrown and thoughtfully balanced for comfort in the hand, with a gently rounded lip that makes every sip a pleasure.
The interplay of glaze and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Every mug develops its own unique patterns, metallic lustre and subtle tonal variations, making each one a truly individual work of functional art.
