Ember Vase — Peter Black | Rivelin Pottery
Dimensions (approx) 7.5cm H, Base 7.5cm, Rim diameter 4.5cm
Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Ember Vase is defined by its rich, fire-inspired glaze, where layers of burnt orange, deep rust and smoky charcoal move across the surface with beautiful depth and variation.
Individually wheel-thrown, the vase has a simple tapered form that allows the glaze to take centre stage. The intense ember-red surface shifts from warm coppery tones to darker, almost charred markings — reminiscent of glowing coals and the changing colours of a fire as it burns.
Beautiful styled with a loose arrangement of foliage or flowers, Ember Vase also has a strong sculptural quality that makes it equally striking displayed on its own.
The interplay of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each vase develops its own variations in colour, texture and glaze movement, making every piece an individual work of functional art.
Please note: Every Peter Black ceramic vase is individually wheel-thrown and kiln-fired. Variations in glaze, colour, texture and surface pattern are a natural part of the ceramic process, making each piece beautifully unique. The vase you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, reflecting the individuality and craftsmanship of handmade pottery.
