Ember Star Bowl — Peter Black | Rivelin Pottery
Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Ember Star Bowl is characterised by its rich, fire-inspired palette and distinctive hand-worked surface. Layers of burnt orange, rust, copper and smoky charcoal create a warm, earthy depth, with the glaze shifting and reacting across the bowl like glowing embers.
Individually wheel-thrown, the bowl features a striking star-like motif radiating from its centre, bringing a strong graphic quality to the interior. The exterior provides a beautiful contrast, with expressive bronze-toned markings moving over a darker ground and emphasising the organic nature of the making process.
With its broad, open form, Ember Star Bowl makes a striking centrepiece or serving bowl and is equally beautiful displayed on its own as a sculptural object.
The interplay of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each bowl develops its own variations in colour, texture and glaze movement, making every piece an individual work of functional art.
Please note: Every Peter Black ceramic bowl is individually wheel-thrown and kiln-fired. Variations in glaze, colour, texture and surface pattern are a natural part of the ceramic process, making each piece beautifully unique. The bowl you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, reflecting the individuality and craftsmanship of handmade pottery.
