The details...
A distinctly New Zealand addition to Tom Barter’s Folded Paper series, Fantail captures the recognisable form of the pīwakawaka through crisp, origami-inspired geometry.
Created in cast glass using the lost-wax process, the sculpture balances the delicacy of folded paper with the weight and permanence of glass. Angular surfaces catch the light from different directions, bringing luminosity, depth and movement to the small sculptural form.
A contemporary interpretation of one of Aotearoa’s most familiar native birds.
