Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Mauve Drift showcases a beautifully fluid glaze moving through soft mauve, lavender, blue and subtle blush tones. The glaze drifts organically across the upper form before meeting the exposed charcoal clay beneath, creating a striking contrast between luminous colour and the raw, tactile ceramic surface.
Individually wheel-thrown in a smaller espresso-sized form, each cup is thoughtfully balanced for comfort in the hand, with a gently rounded lip that makes it perfect for a morning espresso or short black.
The interplay of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each cup develops its own subtle shifts in colour, texture and glaze movement, making every piece an individual work of functional art.
