Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Opal Tall Vase is defined by its luminous, almost ethereal glaze, where soft washes of aqua, blush pink, lavender, cream and pearlescent tones gently merge across the surface.
Individually wheel-thrown, the vase has an elegant tall form, subtly flaring towards the rim and grounded by a natural clay foot. Layers of reactive glaze create beautiful areas of movement and texture, giving the surface an opalescent quality that shifts as it catches the light.
Beautiful filled with a simple arrangement of flowers or foliage, Opal Tall Vase has a delicate sculptural presence that makes it equally striking displayed on its own.
The interplay of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each vase develops its own unique patterns, tonal variations and areas of glaze movement, making every piece an individual work of functional art.
