Pöttyök 178 is a richly layered celebration of colour, rhythm and repetition from Alexandra Weston’s distinctive Pöttyökseries.

Built from thousands of individually applied dots, the work transforms a simple repeated gesture into an intricate field of colour. Soft blush, muted blue and earthy neutrals sit alongside flashes of vivid pink, red, orange and yellow, creating a composition that feels both spontaneous and carefully considered.

Working on the reverse side of Perspex, Alexandra builds the surface dot by dot and drip by drip, allowing colours to overlap, cluster and interact. Viewed from a distance, the marks merge into an energetic, almost shimmering whole; up close, each individual dot reveals the hand of the artist and the meditative process behind its creation. Light plays through the Perspex and layered paint, adding further depth and subtly changing the work throughout the day.

Pöttyök — the Hungarian word for “dots” — reflects Alexandra’s fascination with how thousands of small, individual moments can accumulate into something far greater. Pöttyök 178 invites both an immediate response to its joyful colour and a closer, slower exploration of the remarkable detail held within.
