Pöttyök 181 is part of Alexandra Weston’s vibrant Pöttyök series — an exploration of colour, repetition and the extraordinary complexity that can emerge from thousands of individual marks.

Working on the reverse side of Perspex, Alexandra builds each piece slowly and intuitively, dot by dot and drip by drip. Layers of colour and texture accumulate across the surface, creating a work that balances careful intention with the unpredictability of the making process. The transparency of the Perspex gives the piece a remarkable sense of depth, allowing light to interact with the layers and subtly alter the work as it is viewed from different positions.

From a distance, Pöttyök 181 appears energetic and richly patterned; viewed closely, the individual marks and decisions that form the composition begin to reveal themselves.

Pöttyök is the Hungarian word for “dots”, reflecting Alexandra’s fascination with the idea that small things matter. Each mark becomes part of something larger — exploring rhythm, connection, memory and transformation while inviting the viewer to slow down, look closer and discover their own meaning within the layers.
