The details...
Tom Barter’s Sitting Dog captures the loyal, familiar posture of a dog waiting patiently — distilled into a series of beautifully angular glass planes.
Inspired by folded paper forms, the sculpture is created using the lost-wax casting process, translating the lightness of origami into solid, luminous glass. Its faceted surface plays with light and shadow, while the transparency and depth of colour give each piece its own distinctive presence.
Playful without being whimsical, Sitting Dog is a beautifully resolved piece of contemporary New Zealand glass.
