Tidal Blue Bowl — Peter Black | Rivelin Pottery
Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Tidal Blue Bowl brings together a luminous ocean-blue interior with the expressive character of exposed, dark stoneware. Layers of deep blue, turquoise and soft sea-washed tones move through the glaze, creating a sense of depth and movement reminiscent of water shifting with the tide.
Individually wheel-thrown, the bowl has a generous, gently flared form, while fine horizontal lines around the exterior reveal the rhythm of Peter’s making process. The contrast between the richly glazed interior and the raw, linear surface of the outer bowl gives the piece a distinctly contemporary feel.
Beautiful as a centrepiece, serving bowl or simply displayed on its own, Tidal Blue Bowl has a strong sculptural presence while remaining a functional piece of handmade pottery.
The interplay of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each bowl develops its own variations in colour, texture and glaze movement, making every piece an individual work of functional art.
Please note: Every Peter Black ceramic bowl is individually wheel-thrown and kiln-fired. Variations in glaze, colour, texture and surface pattern are a natural part of the ceramic process, making each piece beautifully unique. The bowl you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, reflecting the individuality and craftsmanship of handmade pottery.
