Tidal Drift Mug — Peter Black | Rivelin Pottery
Dimensions (approx) 9cm H, width with handle 10.5cm, Rim diameter 7cm
Handcrafted in the Waikato by Peter Black, Tidal Drift Mug draws on the shifting colours and movement of water, with a richly layered glaze moving through deep ocean blue, smoky grey and softer blue-green tones.
The glaze sweeps across the form in broad, organic bands, revealing sections of charcoal clay beneath. This interplay between the fluid glazed surface and exposed clay gives the mug a beautifully tactile quality, reminiscent of changing tides, dark coastal waters and weathered shoreline.
Each mug is individually wheel-thrown and thoughtfully balanced for comfort in the hand, with a generous handle and gently rounded lip that make it a pleasure to use every day.
The interaction of glaze, clay and kiln ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each develops its own shifts in colour, texture and glaze movement, making every mug an individual work of functional art.
Please note: Every Peter Black ceramic mug is individually wheel-thrown and kiln-fired. Variations in glaze, colour, texture and surface pattern are a natural part of the ceramic process, making each piece beautifully unique. The mug you receive may differ slightly from the images shown, reflecting the individuality and craftsmanship of handmade pottery.
